Time Flies....

Dear Blog (hereafter to be known as Ripple),

I knew you were sitting out here in the web-o-sphere, just waiting for me to return. You need not long for me further. I have returned and vow to write more often.

It has been nearly two years since my last post about the great job search. "Never give up, never surrender," was the theme, borrowed from Jason Nesmith in "Galaxy Quest." It was strange using a mantra from a character wearing shoulder pads and spandex, but he was right and it helped get me through.

You may have some questions at this point about what I have been doing in those nearly 24 months since my last post. I'll try to answer.

How long was I unemployed? Eight long months.

What did I do during that time? I sold my house of 20 years, downsized - a lot, put what was left in storage, and moved in my with my two sons. Yes, it was a blow to my considerable ego, but it was a gift from the universe. After all, I was able to sell my house in a very dead market, I had someplace to live and I was surrounded by people who loved me...even after I had been around a little too long.

Where do I live now? I was very lucky to be able to purchase a smaller property in a transitional neighborhood and I love my home.

Did I ever find a job? Yes. I work as a secretary at a local college, making less than $13.00 an hour, which is less than half what I was making at my last job. I didn't settle. It was a choice.

I have health, dental and vision. I don't have much stress. Pay attention because this next statement is  VERY important: I am around people who encourage me to pursue what I want to do, which happens to be fine art photography.

This last point brings me back to the theme of my prior posts: if at all possible, use this new place in your life as a springboard for doing what you love to do. It isn't for sissies, but it is worth it. Very.

I am not rich and certainly not famous - yet, but I am much happier. Please come take a look at my awesome site: www.wolfandwillowstudio.com or visit me at my fan page at http://www.facebook.com/#!/WolfandWillowStudio.

Until next time, I wish you success, happiness and friends.
